Getting ramped up for 5erWest 2018!

We’re a little over 2.5 months away from 5erWest 2018! We are very excited for this years event held July 20-22nd. We are working on a more streamlined registration system for the show and shine using MotorsportReg.com. Once that is up and running we will post a link here so you can register/subscribe, etc. Of course you can still register on site but preregistration always helps us!

We brought food within the community this year instead of an outside vendor, so we are pretty excited about that too.

As always, check www.5erWest.com for details about the event. We feel we have had a winning formula over the years, and this year should be no different. If you’re coming from out of town and need a place to stay, we have a block of rooms at the Clackamas Inn. They have always been great to us over the years and we are glad to have them on our team. PDX lodging is expensive and they give us a nice deal for great accommodations.

As always, big thanks to our sponsors, Moosehead Engineering, Einhorn Industries, 2M Shift Boots and BMW Portland

Stay tuned for future updates and sponsor highlights!!

5erDrive 2017!

Each year one of the most popular parts of 5erWest is the drive we take around Mt. Hood on Sunday. The 5erDrive is an organized group drive featuring some of the many great scenic routes in the Pacific Northwest. The 5erDrive is an open event, so you’re welcome to attend even if you could not join us for the Saturday events. Again, it is open to any flavor of BMW, not limited to just the 5 series chassis.

  • When: Sunday July 16, 2017, 8:30AM.
  • Where: Meet at Meldrum Bar Park, 19 Meldrum Bar Park Rd, Gladstone, OR 97027. Drive around Mt. Hood. See map.
  • Who: Anyone with a car. The more the merrier. It does not have to be a 5-series. You must fill out and sign a liability waiver.

Please remember that this is a casual drive on a public road. It is not the place for displays of power and racing. 5erWest does not condone speeding or reckless driving. All local laws are expected to be followed. Please be sure your car is in reliable working order before participating in the 5erDrive.

Last year we discovered a new route with some amazing twisties (Cooper Spur Road). We’ll be following that route again this year. Czech it out:

Cooper Spur Road

The timing of the route is such that we will get to Hood River, OR around noon, just in time for lunch. Traditionally we’ve all eaten at the Full Sail Brewery. This year we may eat somewhere else, so pay attention…

After lunch we head across the the Columbia River and pull up at the Bonneville Dam. This is where Damn Fine photos like this get taken:

IMG_20160717_155502Then we generally split up and folks head off to wherever they came from.

Several people heading back to Seattle will head North from Bonneville following this route. The traffic from Portland to Seattle on Sunday evenings is so bad, we figure we’d much rather be on a fun road, moving instead of an Interstate crawling with other traffic.

5erWest 2017 is this weekend!

We’ve been working hard over the last few months and are super excited to see light at the end of the tunnel!  In just a few days, the event we’ve all been waiting for will be here!  5erWest 2017.  There’s still time to register if you haven’t yet.  Go to the “register” link above!

All of the location details are in the “Event Info” tab.  Should have everything you need to know, but I just want to throw out a couple of things.

Clackamas Inn has a couple rooms left, so if you need one and haven’t gotten one, get on it now.  It’s the best value you’re going to find in the area and those rooms will be sold to other people looking for a clean, comfortable lodging experience in the greater Portland metro area.

Just like last year, we will have the awesome Bro Dogs truck serving up awesome gourmet hot dogs and burgers at the Show and Shine on Saturday.  They were a hit and we are stoked to have them back this year.

On Saturday, we will also have some killer items in the raffle from Moosehead Engineering, Einhorn Industries, 2M Shift Boots, BMW Portland and others including a huge, handmade quilt fit for the most serious of BMW enthusiasts – it’s the ultimate quilt experience.

We will also, of course, have our awesome 5erWest 2017 shirts with the 5erWest logo on the font and featuring artwork from 5erWest attendee Aaron Thomason of Thomason Design on the back.  Printed on high quality, pre-shrunk Gildan Ultra-Cotton shirts, they aren’t only comfortable, but they fit real humans – not just mannequins.

Northwest BMW Club invites you to attend 5erWest, the northwest’s premier showcase of the BMW 5 series.  5erWest is a celebration of the fine lineage of the BMW 5-Series.

Although 5erWest spotlights the 5 series, it is also a gathering of ALL BMW enthusiasts. We welcome other BMW makes to attend and would like to give special encouragement to owners of other vintage “roundels” to show up in force! Over the last couple of years, we had a nice showing of 3-series, 6-series, and even a few Porsches.
